Chris Ellis

Chris Ellis, founder and Director of the Rona Ellis Foundation, has had a successful career in the mining industry and is driven by a commitment to philanthropy.

Chris established the Foundation in 2007 following his exit from Excel Coal Limited, of which he was a founding shareholder and Director. Chris decided to name the Foundation after his late mother, Rona Ellis, who dedicated her life to helping others and who had passed away in the same year.

The Foundation initially focused its philanthropy in third-world countries targeting children’s welfare and education, women’s empowerment and micro-finance. In more recent years, the Foundation has added Australian based projects in the areas of marine conservation and animal welfare to its charitable portfolio.

With passion meeting purpose, under Chris' leadership the Rona Ellis Foundation has become a driving force behind 30 impactful projects in Australia and Overseas. Chris is determined for the Foundation to foster transformative collaboration with non-for-profits and drive betterment in the global community.
